Katja Schneider began her career as a doll-maker in 1992 with reproductions of porcelain dolls. At about the same time, Ruth Kunz also discovered her gift for modelling dolls. The two women met in 1996 and since then they have been pooling their talents, collaborating in the design of their unique doll babies. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, they meet up to enjoy vacation time, model together, and renew their friendship.
Both artists are skilled sculptresses; Ruth Kunz is self-taught while Katja Schneider has had formal instruction in porcelain doll reproduction.
As a team Ruth Kunz and Katja Schneider have successfully participated in numerous competitions. In 2007 they were presented with the  Dolls Award of Excellence.
