Ilse Wippler was born in Schwabisch-Gmund, Germany, she grew up in 'East-Germany' and escaped to Bavaria in 1949. There she studied drawing and mold making at the Porzellanschule Selb. She worked freelance in the local museum's pottery restoring and reproducing antique dolls. She also worked as a painter for a company which manufactured collectable and play dolls. Additionally Ilse Wippler developed her own artist's dolls. To date she is cooperating with a worldwide renowned toy and doll manufacturing company. Her work has been recognized in various newspapers and magazines and could be admired in numerous exhibitions. Among many awards Doll Reader's DOTY of 2009 for the doll 'Henreiete' was the most recent one. "To me however it is the most wonderful job to create a little character and to bring it to life", says Ilse Wippler.
